Offering Piano & Voice Lessons
Welcome to Cynthia Chou Piano & Voice Studio!
Cynthia is a dedicated music educator with a passion for helping students of all ages discover the joy of music. She holds degrees from UC Santa Barbara (B.A. in Western Art Music) and Northwestern University (M.M. in Music Education), and brings over 14 years of experience in choir singing, musical theatre, piano performance, and accompanying.
Since 2015, Cynthia has taught more than 850 students around the world, directing choirs, teaching piano and voice, and inspiring young musicians to grow with confidence. She now teaches from her private studio in northern New Jersey—serving Englewood, Tenafly, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Edgewater, and nearby communities—as well as offering online lessons through Zoom.
At her studio, students can choose from piano lessons, voice lessons, or a unique piano & voice fusion class designed to build well-rounded musicianship. Beyond teaching, Cynthia regularly serves in her church’s worship ministry and enjoys accompanying students for auditions and special events like weddings.
Cynthia believes music education should be joyful, creative, and meaningful. Her goal is to teach strong fundamentals while also encouraging collaboration, expression, and a lifelong love of music. Every student is guided not only to develop their skills, but also to grow as confident, creative individuals who can share their music with the world.

How does Piano & Voice Lesson work?
Online piano lessons take place over Zoom, making it easy to learn from the comfort of your own home. Lessons are interactive and customized to each student, using multiple camera angles, screen sharing, and real-time feedback to stay connected and focused. I also incorporate fun educational games and music apps to keep students engaged and reinforce key skills. All you need is a piano, a device, and a good internet connection!
What is your teaching style?
I tailor each lesson to fit the student’s unique learning style and personality, combining technical foundations with a fun, supportive environment. I believe that a positive teacher-student relationship is key to helping students connect with their instrument and enjoy the learning journey.

“My son has been learning piano from Cynthia over Zoom and he has made so much progress! Cynthia is very clear about giving instructions and holds her students to a high standard which I am thankful for. My son knows that he needs to practice each week and takes his lesson seriously as a result. Cynthia is also great about communication with parents. Would definitely recommend to anyone else considering a Zoom option for lessons!”
